Plan a Worry-free Staycation

5 essential tips on how you can plan for a rewarding and worry-free staycation.
  • 27 December 2022

Having stayed at home for so long, it’s safe to say that many of us are longing for a vacation. It’s the perfect opportunity to start planning for that much-needed break. While jetting off to a far-off place is not quite possible right now, you can still enjoy a short getaway with a relaxing staycation right here in Singapore!

Some might think that a staycation is no different from being cooped up at home, but the change in environment will give you a chance to rejuvenate your mind and recharge during this stressful period.

In this article, we share 5 essential tips on how you can plan for a rewarding and worry-free staycation during this period.

Tip 1: Look out for special promos and take note of cancellation policies

Orchard Resort Sentosa: Junior Suite

When researching your next stay, do visit each hotel’s website to check if there are any attractive promotions and you might be able to score an awesome book direct deal! To help make your stay even more fulfilling, some hotels have rolled out creative promotions that not only provide you with a good price, but extra value as well. Oasia Resort Sentosa is offering a package with a complimentary Oasia Spa treatment and daily breakfast for 2!

However, before booking, remember to read the fine print and check the cancellation policy of your reservation. If there are unforeseen circumstances that may cause you to miss your stay, being aware of the cancellation policy will help put your mind at ease and ensure you are able to reschedule or get a refund.

If you intend to stay with us, be rest assured that you can plan with confidence. We have a flexible reservation and cancellation policy for selected promotions that allows you to cancel or change your booking up to 24 hours before arrival. Most importantly, should there be any new restrictions on staycations as per local government regulations, you’ll be offered a full refund or be allowed to make amendments to your stay dates for stays booked during that period.

Tip 2: Find out what preventive measures are in place

For peace of mind during your staycation, it helps to know if your hotel has adequate preventive measures to safeguard your health and well-being during this time. If you are unable to find any information about a hotel’s safety measures on their website, here’s a quick tip: check the SG Clean website to see if the hotel you've shortlisted has been certified as SG Clean.

On top of being certified SG Clean, we have also implemented additional precautionary measures at our hotels such as using hospital-grade disinfectants to clean all surfaces and ensuring staff wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when entering and cleaning guest rooms. In addition, everyone entering our hotels, including guests, will need to have their temperatures checked.

Tip 3: Check which facilities are open and if there are any alternative options

Orchard Rendezvous Hotel Pool

While there may be an easing of restrictions for certain activities, it is likely that not all facilities will be able to operate normally. Before confirming your booking, check to see if there are any restrictions on the facilities or activities you have in mind for your stay. For example, the gym requires for guests to be fully vaccinated and recreational activities may be cancelled or require advanced bookings. But before you change your mind about going on a staycation, find out first if the hotel will offer alternative options for you to get more value out of your stay!

Our hotels have thought of additional ways to add special perks that will enhance your stay. Rejuvenate at Oasia Hotel Downtown with perks like a complimentary high tea set for 2, a yoga class and late check-out till 3pm. At Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, a picnic mat and basket packed with goodies will be provided for you to enjoy the outdoors. If you prefer a more luxurious experience, The Barracks Hotel at Sentosa has afternoon tea for 2 persons per stay with free-flow champagne coupled with a unique tea tailoring experience. The Clan Hotel also offers experiential activities like a Sandal-Making Workshop and a 4-Course Dinner at QĪN Restaurant for 2.

Tip 4: Take note of dining restrictions

When it comes to dining, hotels may need to make certain adjustments such as limiting the seating capacity or replacing breakfast buffets with a la carte menus. So, before you confirm your stay, it’s a good idea to check out what alternative dining options will be available for you during your stay.

To keep you safe while delivering the ideal staycation experience, Village Hotel Bugis launched breakfast bento boxes! You can choose from the various options available and it will be freshly prepared in our in-house restaurants for you. Imagine having breakfast in bed while enjoying your favourite morning television show. Ah, such bliss!

Tip 5: Be mindful of your own health and wellbeing

Oasia Hotel Downtown Sky Terrace

You might be excited about going for a long-awaited break but do continue to pay close attention to your health leading up to your stay. If you begin to feel unwell, contact the hotel to rearrange or cancel your booking.

When packing for your stay, don’t forget to bring an additional set of face masks! Other optional items you might want to pack for a peace of mind are personal medication in case of emergencies or a thermometer to monitor your own temperature. If you feel sick, alert our staff as they have been trained on the proper procedures and will be able to assist you accordingly.

When leaving your hotel room during your stay, be reminded to also practice social distancing and avoid interaction with others to minimise any risk of transmission between guests. Our hotels have social distancing markers in all public areas to assist you with that.

And finally, enjoy your stay!

Although a staycation is not the same as basking in the sweet summer sunshine in Europe or strolling along the colourful streets of Myeongdong in Seoul, it’s a great way to relax and take your mind off things during these challenging times. It also offers you a refreshing change in environment compared to staying at home.

A bonus tip for you to fully enjoy your staycation is to unwind and give yourself some precious “me time”. You can consider turning off notifications for work-related communications and maybe even stay away from social media completely. With all the information overload these days, it is a good time to give your mind and body the break that you deserve.
