The Hotel

To our delight, there were vibrant art installations that pervaded every corner of the lobby, brightening the atmosphere with a kaleidoscope of colours. Having heard about the hotel’s constant collaborations with art galleries, art schools, art centres, and various national art events like Art Stage Singapore and Singapore Biennale, we looked forward to having a cozy stay at this unconventional hotel.

Your room choices

Executive Suite - Comprising a living room and a bedroom, this room was incredibly spacious! Can you spot the mask from Phantom of The Opera in the photo? Yes, this room was performance-themed. The attention to detail was impeccable, down to even having cushion covers with musical notes to complement the theme of the room. We also made good use of the velvety couch – it was so relaxing to just lie on it and indulge in watching television programmes. Also, how often do you get a majestic, bright red leather armchair in your hotel room, all to yourself? We definitely had lots of fun taking lots of photos, posing with this gorgeous armchair. For a moment, we felt like Hollywood superstars sitting on our royal throne. We were also rewarded with panoramic views of Singapore’s skyline and the hotel pool from our window! The spacious living room even had a workspace complete with velvety chairs – perfect for us to check on our emails in utmost comfort!

Club Room - The very first thing we noticed when we entered the room was the colourful paintings on top of the writing desk! That certainly made the room more cheerful and vibrant. The highlight however, has got to be the plush and cozy king-sized bed. The mattress is incredibly thick – we had such a hard time waking up from a good night’s sleep. In addition, we got a bird’s eye view of Chijmes from the comforts of our room. Staying at the Club Room also meant access to the luxurious Club Lounge – read more about it below!

Junior Suite - With a spacious living area on top of a bedroom, the Junior Suite is where comfort meets style. We particularly loved the exquisite heritage-inspired tile patterns! The suite also has a huge bathtub and rainshower – perfectly suited for those who love to recharge by having long refreshing showers or a fun bubble bath. With both a velvety couch and a leather armchair in the living room, you’ll be pleasantly spoilt for choice on where you should lounge at!

Deluxe Plus Room - The Deluxe Plus rooms are Peranakan-themed. A comfy fit for two people, it also has a plush leather armchair for you to lounge in while watching television. You will also be rewarded with a view overlooking the Singapore skyline, or the hotel pool! One quirky fact about the toilets – they have a bidet feature.

Deluxe Room
- The Deluxe Room is starkly different from the other rooms and suites! It is decidedly minimalist chic, with a predominantly white interior complemented with a marble side table and a marble sink. Classy, elegant and cozy – it is everything you could wish for and more! Located on the higher floors, you’re guaranteed to have a mesmerizing view of the city’s skyline.

Stuff to do in the Hotel

The Library - Situated at the hotel lobby, The Library is the perfect place to just kick back and relax in a cozy armchair with a delicious cocktail in hand. Lovingly crafted by the mixologists behind the bar, these refreshing and unique creations will have you addicted to every sip you take.

The soothing ambience is complemented by lounge music, designer displays, and an impressive selection of premium wines, beers and spirits. This is the go-to place for anyone looking to unwind in comfort after a long day
Pool + Jacuzzi + Gym - When the weather gets too humid, head to the Balinese-inspired pool for a refreshing swim! There are plenty of deck chairs right by the pool for you to relax on and suntan, as well as a jacuzzi if you’re in need for a rejuvenating massage.

The 24-hour gym located right beside the pool is also decked with the latest fitness equipment, inclusive of treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, and even multimedia stations. Get your daily dose of endorphins with an intense workout anytime you like!
Club Lounge - The Club lounge offers you ultimate privacy at any time of the day – for your morning session of newspaper-reading, a quiet time sipping on hot tea in the afternoon, or even cocktails in the evening. With large sofa chairs and fluffy cushions for your comfort, it is a relaxing respite away from all the noise and bustling activity.
Help yourself to all-day refreshments available right here! One key feature of the lounge would be the eye-catching silver curtains for sure – they depict a reflection of Singapore’s skyline in monochromatic shades. We couldn’t resist grabbing a photo with these special and silky curtains!

Other Great Things in the Area

Have brunch at Curious Palette - The cafe is famous for its photogenic Berry Ricotta Hotcakes, but our favourite was the Buttermilk Waffles with Banana Brulee and Wild Berries Compote instead. The crisp and light texture of the waffle blends harmoniously with the fragrant vanilla ice-cream, caramelized banana slices and sweet berries to give just the right balance of sweet and savoury with every bite. The Salted-egg Chicken Wings packed a punch as well. Needless to say, we were extremely satisfied!
Visit the museums - The National Museum of Singapore and the Singapore Arts Museum are just a stone’s throw away from the hotel. There are many free exhibits that are beautiful even to the non-art enthusiast. Spend an hour or two here admiring the exquisite artwork or even just the gorgeous architecture of the buildings dating back to the 19th century.
Visual Arts Centre: Situated outside Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, Visual Art Centre Singapore is a glass gallery that holds exhibitions and various art workshops. One workshop that caught our eye was the Batik Handkerchief Painting workshop. It was fascinating seeing functional art being created with just cloth and wax. Do not worry if you have no experience or artistic abilities, the teacher will patiently guide the students individually. Do not miss this if you are keen to learn and explore a bit of Southeast Asia’s culture!
MAMA DIAM: Bringing back the old-school décor on the outside, together with games and snacks, Mama Diam infuses elements from the past and the present. Stepping into the bar, their menu offers traditional dishes with a touch of modern flavours such as ‘Salmon Lemak’ and ‘Soft Shell Crab Bao’. Adding to their rustic charm, their cocktails and shooters are a must-try with uniquely familiar ingredients like Milo and Pandan.
